Getting someone else's mail (the dots issue)
The answer is quite simple- Gmail does
recognize dot in username. That means email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org are same.
If you own email@example.com, you also own firstname.lastname@example.org. To check that send an email to email@example.com (if you own firstname.lastname@example.org), you'll get the email in your own email id.
